Where we work in Suffolk

Lavenham sits roughly in the middle of south Suffolk, so we can reach most of the county in about an hour. We plan surveys and installs by area, which means we spend proper time on each job rather than rushing between them.

  • Lavenham: our home village, with a lot of listed and timber-framed properties.
  • Sudbury: including Great Cornard and Chilton.
  • Long Melford: period homes, shops and pubs along Hall Street.
  • Hadleigh: and the Brett Valley villages, from Kersey to Bildeston.
  • Bury St Edmunds: including Moreton Hall and Suffolk Business Park.
  • Ipswich: including Kesgrave, Martlesham and the surrounding villages.

We also cover Stowmarket, Needham Market, Clare, Haverhill and the villages in between. Just over the border, we work in Colchester and north Essex. If your town isn’t listed, book a free survey and we’ll let you know whether we can help.

Suffolk properties: what we plan for

Suffolk has a lot of older and historic buildings, and they need more care than a new-build:

  • Listed buildings and conservation areas. Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare, Hadleigh and central Bury St Edmunds all have conservation areas and many listed buildings. We’ll advise on unit positions and pipe routes, and on whether listed building consent or planning permission is likely to be needed from Babergh, Mid Suffolk, West Suffolk or Ipswich Borough Council. You or your agent make any application; we don’t submit them.
  • Thatched and timber-framed homes. We look carefully at where the outdoor unit and pipework can go so they’re discreet and don’t damage the fabric of the building.
  • Rural properties. Many homes and farm businesses are off the gas grid, so a heat pump can be worth looking at. We’ll explain the options honestly at the survey.

Suffolk FAQs

Do you cover the whole of Suffolk?

Most of our work is in west and south Suffolk and the Ipswich area. For towns further out, book a free survey and we’ll tell you straight away whether we can help.

Can you fit air conditioning in a listed building?

Often, yes, with careful positioning. We’ll advise on what’s likely to need consent from your local council, but you or your agent make the application.

Is the survey really free?

Yes. Surveys are free, whether by video or on-site, and there’s no obligation.

Do you fit heat pumps as well as air conditioning?

Yes. We fit air-to-air and air-to-water heat pumps. On air-to-water systems, our plumbing partner does the water side.
