Air conditioning in Colchester and north Essex

Colchester is just over the Essex border, about 20 miles south of our Lavenham base. We come down through Sudbury and the A134 via Nayland, usually 35–45 minutes, so the villages of the Stour Valley are on the way.

Colchester’s homes, old and new

  • The historic centre and Dutch Quarter. Britain’s oldest recorded town has a large conservation area and many listed buildings. Outdoor units here need discreet siting, and listed building consent or planning permission from Colchester City Council may be needed. We’ll advise on what’s likely to be required; you or your agent make any application.
  • Lexden and Mile End. Larger Victorian, Edwardian and 1930s houses, where we often fit systems in principal bedrooms and garden rooms and spend time on quiet, tidy outdoor-unit positions.
  • New-build neighbourhoods such as the Garrison, Severalls/Chesterwell, Highwoods and Stanway. Efficient homes like these suit air-to-air heat pumps; check any estate covenants about outdoor units first.
  • Military and rental homes. If you rent, you’ll need your landlord’s written permission before we can install.

Single-room domestic installations start from £1,300.

For Colchester businesses

Restaurants and bars around the town centre, offices at the Northern Gateway and Severalls, and shops at Tollgate and Stanway all need dependable cooling. We offer:

Cold. Heat.
Perfected.

Villages between Lavenham and Colchester

We cover Nayland, Wissington, Boxted, West Bergholt, Great Horkesley, Dedham, Langham and Wivenhoe. Many homes in Dedham Vale are off mains gas, so a heat pump is worth a look.

Air source heat pumps: we fit air-to-air and air-to-water systems. On air-to-water jobs, our plumbing partner handles the water side (pipework, radiators and cylinder connections) while we do the heat pump itself.

Comfort Club: keep it running with our servicing plan from £14.99 a month per unit. See servicing and Comfort Club.

Colchester FAQs

Do you work in Essex as well as Suffolk?

Yes. Colchester and north Essex are within our regular area, alongside Sudbury and the Stour Valley.

The house is in the Dutch Quarter. Can air conditioning be fitted?

Possibly. It depends on whether the building is listed and where a unit could go. We’ll look at it on a free survey and advise on consent; we don’t submit applications ourselves.

Can you fit a heat pump that runs radiators?

Yes. We fit air-to-water heat pumps, with our plumbing partner handling the radiator and hot water side.

Is the survey really free?

Yes, whether by video call or in person, with no obligation.
